Based on the iconic animated film, with an Academy Award-winning score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, Disney’s Aladdin JR. is sure to send our drama club soaring on a flying carpet ride filled with romance and adventure.
Disney’s Aladdin Jr. brings the classic Disney musical to life on the stage. The show is an abridged version that is suitable for younger performers. Aladdin lives on the streets of Agrabah, a City of Enchantment where every beggar has a story and every camel has a tail! When he meets Jasmine, a beautiful and spirited princess in disguise, Aladdin is determined to win her heart. Obstacles, however, await at every turn. It will take all of his wit, and some help from his wacky friend the Genie, for Aladdin to triumph over the evil Jafar for Jasmine’s hand in marriage. In the end, Aladdin and Jasmine live happily ever after, with a “whole new world” of opportunities ahead of them.
About Rosa's Drama Program
The Rosa Drama program will be presenting its fifteenth musical production. Besides musical theater, the members of the drama program have presented several dramatic programs, including skits for National Smoke Out Day. A few years ago they premiered their first-ever black and white silent film depicting scenes from the I.B. 5 Areas of Interaction and produced a film on the ILPs. The performances were presented to the school on the Rosa TV system and met with great success!
The drama program is open to any Rosa student interested in the art of drama - whether it be as a performer or behind the scenes. These productions include over 100 students as actors, scenery producers, lighting and sound producers, costume and make-up artists, etc...
