The Orff Ensemble is an extra curricular activity that rehearses after school on Thursdays from 3 - 4:30 p.m. This group is made up of 10 - 20 members who play Orff mallet instruments such as glockenspiels, metallophones, xylophones, vibraphones, marimbas, boomwhackers, and various percussion instruments. A new element added to the Orff Ensemble is Suzuki Tone Chimes. These tone chimes are played much like handbells and are a wonderful addition to the program.
Anyone with an interest in learning mallet percussion is welcome to join. Mr. Murtha is the director of this ensemble. See him for information about joining...
The Recorder Ensemble is also an extra curricular activity that rehearses after school on Tuesdays from 3 - 4:30 p.m.. Mr. Jack Murtha is the director. The ensemble is made up of unique instruments from the recorder family - Soprano Recorder, Alto Recorder, Tenor Recorder, Bass Recorder and Lute (a stringed instrument).
Remember the days in third grade when you learned to play "Hot Cross Buns" on your soprano recorder? Well, here is your chance to take that musical experience to the next level.
Mr. Murtha arranges most of the music played by this group, consisting of 8 - 10 members with an interest in learning these medieval instruments. Any student is welcome to join. Just see Mr. Murtha...
Instruments for these ensembles are provided by the school.
Both of these ensembles perform at the Winter and Spring Concerts, as well as various other events and activities throughout the year.
